The oval metal identification disc retains its original central breakaway slots and suspension holes. The unit designation is stamped on both halves of the tag and appears as:

On period German identity tags, the letter “J” was frequently used in place of “I”, making J.E.B. an abbreviation for Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon. Comparable period tags using this convention are documented.
The “ST.” designation most likely refers to the Stammkompanie (replacement battalion cadre/company), while 50 represents the soldier’s personal roll / identification number within the issuing unit.
The tag remains complete and unbroken, with both matching halves still together. It retains a dark aged surface with expected scratches, oxidation and wear consistent with age.
A nice researchable example of a German WWII personnel identification tag, particularly interesting due to the clearly identifiable replacement battalion designation.
