Original West Wall Medal (Deutsches Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen), awarded for service in the construction and defense of the German Westwall (Siegfried Line).
The obverse features a national eagle above crossed sword and shovel, symbolizing the combination of military defense and labor. The reverse bears the inscription “Für Arbeit zum Schutze Deutschlands” (For Work in the Defense of Germany), framed by an oak leaf wreath.
Constructed in bronze with a naturally aged finish, the medal shows honest wear and patina consistent with period use. It is suspended from its original ribbon, which displays visible age and fraying.
This example is unmarked, which is typical for this award, as many were produced without visible maker markings.
A classic and historically significant Third Reich award, directly tied to the construction of the Siegfried Line.
Condition:
Very good overall condition with natural age toning. Ribbon shows wear and fraying but remains intact. Details on the medal remain clearly visible.
