Historical Note
The Wolfpack (Rudel) tactic, developed under Grand Admiral Karl Dönitz, became one of the defining operational methods of the German U-boat arm during the Battle of the Atlantic. By coordinating attacks from multiple submarines against Allied convoys, the Kriegsmarine sought to maximize the effectiveness of its submarine fleet. Period photographs illustrating several operational U-boats in formation are considerably less common than standard publicity images of individual submarines.
