Documentary Take No Prisoners – The Nazi SS in Normandy, from the Never Again! series by The War Amps of Canada. Running time: approx. 57 minutes.
The film tells the story of over 130 Canadian soldiers captured by the 12th SS Hitlerjugend Division in Normandy, June 1944. Prisoners were interrogated, then executed at locations such as the Abbaye d’Ardenne under General Kurt Meyer and the Château d’Audrieu under Wilhelm Mohnke.
Narrated by Cliff Chadderton, a veteran of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles, the documentary revisits the sites of the massacres and contrasts the behavior of regular German soldiers with the fanaticism of the Hitler Youth SS. Includes rare archival material and German SS records.
Condition: Very good, case and artwork intact. Disc tested and plays fine.
A powerful and rare documentary on WWII war crimes in Normandy, particularly significant for Canadian military history.
