Original Kriegsmarine Harbor Pilot Flag (Hafenlotsenflagge), used aboard German naval vessels during the Second World War to indicate the presence of an authorized harbor pilot on board. Measuring approximately 26 x 19 inches (66 x 48 cm), this double-sided naval signal flag features a central red field with a white disk and black swastika, all printed on a natural off-white cotton base.
The flag is complete with its original rope halyard and both factory-installed steel spring clips, still fully functional. The hoist edge is reinforced with canvas and double-stitched corners for heavy-duty use in coastal wind conditions.
Most notably, the hoist bears a crisp Kriegsmarine eagle over “M” naval acceptance stamp, denoting that this flag was officially issued and inspected by the Kriegsmarine (German Navy). This marking confirms its use aboard official naval vessels and port installations, not civilian or political organizations.
