Original World War II German Army (Heer) sleeve chevron for a Gefreiter, constructed of dark field-grey wool with a machine-woven aluminum/silver braid forming the classic downward-pointing “V”. Worn on the upper left sleeve of enlisted uniforms, this insignia denoted the first promotion within the enlisted ranks.
This example shows period stitching on the reverse and light age toning from service use, consistent with removal from a wartime tunic. A solid and fully authentic Heer rank insignia suitable for a uniform restoration or a quality insignia collection.
