Original German WWII SA-Wehrmannschaft armband, commonly referred to by collectors as an SA Sports Armband.
The armband is constructed from red cotton fabric with a separately applied light-colored roundel featuring a finely machine-woven representation of the SA-Wehrabzeichen.
The central insignia depicts an upright sword superimposed over a swastika and surrounded by an oak leaf wreath, executed in attractive brown and bronze-toned threads.
The roundel is machine stitched directly to the red armband, while the reverse displays the original vertical joining seam and neatly finished upper and lower edges.
Of particular interest, the interior retains its original RZM paper control label, marked with the RZM emblem, “Hersteller,” the A4 designation and the number 040946.
The SA-Wehrmannschaften were established in 1939 as part of the SA’s program of pre- and post-military defense training. This distinctive armband incorporating the SA-Wehrabzeichen was associated with members participating in this organization.
A very attractive and well-preserved original example, made especially desirable by the survival of its original RZM paper label.
