Original Imperial German pre-WWI / WWI-era single shoulder board (Schulterklappe) for the Grenadier Regiment “König Friedrich der Große” (3rd East Prussian) Nr. 4, associated with the I Army Corps.
This shoulder board follows the 1895 pattern and features the distinctive light yellow/cream cloth backing with embroidered red regimental numeral “4”. Period reference documentation confirms the regiment’s association with this backing color and regimental designation.
Grenadier Regiment Nr. 4 was one of the historic East Prussian infantry formations of the Imperial German Army and carried the honorary title “King Friedrich the Great.” The regiment traced its lineage back to the 17th century and formed part of the prestigious Prussian grenadier tradition.
The construction, stitching, and materials are fully consistent with Imperial German manufacture of the pre-1918 period. The reverse retains its original dark backing cloth and does not show evidence of glue mounting or album display residue.
A scarce and attractive Imperial German grenadier shoulder board from a historically significant East Prussian regiment.
Condition: Shows period age and light handling wear consistent with storage and use. Embroidery remains clear and well preserved with strong overall display appeal.
