Original German WWII Customs Service (Zoll) collar tab for the rank of Zolloberinspekteur, introduced as part of the 1937-pattern insignia worn by German Customs officials.
This attractive example is constructed on a dark bottle-green wool backing and features elaborate hand-embroidered silver/aluminum wire decoration.
The distinctive design consists of ornate acanthus leaves extending across the lower portion of the tab, surrounded by the characteristic saw-toothed metallic wire border. Two silver-colored rank pips positioned above the central decoration identify the Zolloberinspekteur rank.
The reverse retains its original coarse backing material and clearly displays the period hand-finished construction.
The combination of the bottle-green backing, elaborate acanthus leaf embroidery, saw-toothed border and two rank pips is characteristic of the 1937-pattern Zolloberinspekteur collar insignia.
A particularly attractive example of German Customs rank insignia with excellent visual appeal and substantial hand-embroidered metallic detail.
