Original German WWII Deutsche Reichsbahn (German National Railway) official’s collar tab, representing the 1942 pattern introduced for Reichsbahn personnel during the later wartime period.
This is the horizontal version intended for wear with the closed-collar uniform.
Constructed on a black wool base, the tab features applied silver-colored metal insignia consisting of the distinctive Reichsbahn winged wheel (Flügelrad) above a canted swastika, together with a cluster of four oak leaves below.
The entire collar tab is surrounded by twisted gold-colored piping.
Under the Reichsbahn insignia system, the combination of four oak leaves and gold piping identified officials belonging to pay groups 7–6, corresponding to the gehobener Dienst or elevated career service.
The reverse clearly shows the original metal attachment prongs securing the individual insignia components through the wool and internal backing.
An attractive and substantially constructed example of higher-level Deutsche Reichsbahn official insignia, retaining all of its applied metal devices.
