German WWII Kriegsmarine-style visor cap insignia (Schirmmützen-Eichenlaubkranz mit Kokarde), featuring a gilt-colored metal oak leaf wreath surrounding the traditional German national cockade.
This attractive two-piece assembly consists of a detailed metal wreath decorated with oak leaves and acorns, together with a separately attached black, white and red national cockade.
The wreath retains a bright golden finish, with finely defined leaf veins, textured surfaces and detailed acorns. The central cockade features a red center, silver-colored ring and contrasting black outer border.
The reverse reveals the separate metal construction and the remaining attachment hardware.
**Important Condition Notes:**
– The original dark navy-blue cloth backing is missing.
– One attachment prong is missing from the left side of the wreath when viewed from the reverse.
– One of the two lower attachment prongs is also missing.
– The central cockade retains its attachment hardware.
Despite these deficiencies, the wreath retains an attractive overall appearance, with minor surface wear and some discoloration and oxidation visible on the reverse.
An interesting Kriegsmarine-style visor cap insignia suitable for collectors of German naval headgear and uniform accessories.
