Original German Wehrmacht Dog Tag (Erkennungsmarke) issued to a soldier of the 2. Kompanie, Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 46. The disc is stamped with the soldier’s registration number 78, a relatively low roster number within the unit.
Manufactured in the standard oval configuration with center break line for casualty identification purposes. The original period suspension cord remains attached, a feature often missing from surviving examples. The zinc disc retains clear, deeply struck markings on both halves and displays honest age toning consistent with wartime service.
Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 46 served as a replacement and training formation responsible for preparing and supplying infantry personnel to frontline units of the German Army. Identity discs from replacement battalions remain highly collectible as original personal equipment directly associated with individual Wehrmacht soldiers.
An attractive and fully original Wehrmacht Dog Tag with clear markings, low roster number, and its original wartime cord still present.
Condition: Very good overall condition with clear markings, light age toning, and original cord present.
