Original German Third Reich commemorative tinnie issued for the National Labour Day celebrations held on May 1st, 1939. The badge features a standing allegorical female figure holding a sheaf of grain beside the national eagle and cogwheel emblem with swastika. The surrounding inscription reads “Ehret die Arbeit und achtet den Arbeiter” (“Honor Labour and Respect the Worker”).
The reverse retains its original pin assembly and is maker marked “M. Schaurla, Duisburg”. Manufactured in zinc with an attractive period appearance and honest age wear.
A desirable and historically significant May Day event badge from the final pre-war year of the Third Reich.
Condition: Very good overall condition with period wear and age toning. Original pin intact and functional.
