Original Deutsche Reichsbahn visor cap eagle worn by personnel of the German National Railway during the Third Reich period. This large winged insignia was intended for wear on service visor caps used by railway officials and transportation personnel.
Manufactured by the well-known firm F. W. Assmann & Söhne of Lüdenscheid, the eagle retains all three original attachment prongs and displays the characteristic Deutsche Reichsbahn wing design surrounding a central cockade. The reverse bears both the Assmann manufacturer’s logo and the “Ges. Gesch.” legal protection marking.
Produced in zinc, the insignia exhibits substantial age-related oxidation and surface wear typical of wartime zinc construction. Despite the evident wear and storage patina, the piece remains structurally sound with all attachment prongs intact.
An original and increasingly difficult-to-find railway insignia from one of Germany’s most important transportation organizations of the period.
