A particularly attractive and unusual original period Italian postcard depicting Benito Mussolini, leader of Fascist Italy, standing in full uniform before a monumental architectural backdrop.
What makes this postcard especially desirable is its elaborate multi-colored silk/thread and fabric appliqué construction. Unlike conventional printed postcards, substantial portions of Mussolini’s uniform have been carefully built up with colored textile threads applied directly over the printed image.
The tunic and trousers are extensively covered in green thread, while contrasting black, red and yellow threads reproduce details including the belt, cross-strap, uniform piping, insignia and decorations. Close examination reveals the individual strands of thread and stitching used to secure the textile elements to the underlying card.
Mussolini’s face, hands, boots and the architectural background remain printed, creating an impressive combination of traditional color printing and three-dimensional textile embellishment. The technique gives the uniform considerable texture and depth and makes this example substantially more elaborate than the standard photographic or printed Mussolini postcards normally encountered.
The reverse is printed “Benito Mussolini – Duce del Fascismo” and bears the card number 24. A period handwritten personal inscription is present on the message side. The postcard was never addressed or postally used and retains an empty stamp box.

An exceptionally decorative and unusual period piece combining Italian Fascist historical imagery with an elaborate textile postcard manufacturing technique.
Condition: Very good original condition overall. The textile appliqué remains remarkably complete with strong green, black, red and yellow coloration. Minor loose and frayed threads are visible upon close examination, consistent with the delicate nature and age of the textile construction.
