Original German Third Reich period postcard commemorating the 1938 state meeting between Adolf Hitler and Admiral Miklós Horthy, Regent and head of state of the Kingdom of Hungary.
The obverse features large portrait studies of Hitler and Horthy above the Gothic inscription:
“Staatstreffen Hitler – v. Horthy”

This type of card relates to Horthy’s official state visit to Germany in August 1938. Period documentation confirms Hitler and Horthy were together during this state visit, with surviving contemporary postcards dated August 25, 1938 held by the Deutsches Historisches Museum.
The reverse considerably increases the historical and philatelic interest of this particular example. It retains two original German postage stamps bearing the portrait of Paul von Hindenburg, denominated 3 Reichspfennig and 1 Reichspfennig.
Both stamps have been struck with large Nürnberg special commemorative cancellations dated August 22, 1938. The cancellations incorporate the Nürnberg castle motif, swastika and wording associated with the Deutsches Liederfest / Reichssängerfest Nürnberg 1938.
Consequently, this is not simply an unused Hitler-Horthy propaganda portrait card: it is a period philatelically cancelled example, combining the 1938 Hitler-Horthy state-meeting subject with contemporary Nürnberg postal history.
The card itself is marked “Berlin-Lichterfelde” along the dividing line on the reverse.
The front remains particularly attractive, with strong photographic portraits and clear Gothic lettering. Light age toning, minor surface/handling wear and small period pencil notations are visible on the reverse, but these do not detract significantly from the presentation.
Condition: Very good original period condition. Clean and well-defined portraits. Light age and handling wear consistent with an original 1938 postcard. Two original stamps remain firmly attached with strong, clearly visible Nürnberg commemorative cancellations. Small period pencil notations on reverse.
