Original German Third Reich-era photographic postcard depicting the Große Halle (Great Hall) inside Adolf Hitler’s Berghof at Obersalzberg near Berchtesgaden.
The photograph shows one section of the Berghof’s large reception hall, including the grand piano, tapestry, grandfather clock, globe, large table and the distinctive panoramic windows overlooking the surrounding mountains.
The reverse bears the period Photo-Hoffmann, München publishing information and is marked “Echte Fotografie” (Genuine Photograph). The printed postcard number 868 is visible at the lower edge.
The card has been privately written in German in blue ink but does not appear to have been mailed, as no postage stamp or postal cancellation is present.
Photo-Hoffmann, operated by Heinrich Hoffmann, produced numerous photographic postcards documenting the Berghof and its interiors during the Third Reich period. These cards were commercially distributed as period souvenirs and form part of the extensive photographic documentation of the Obersalzberg complex.
