Vintage postwar German photographic postcard depicting Adolf Hitler’s former Berghof at Obersalzberg before and after its destruction.
Entitled “Das Hitlerhaus vor und nach 1945,” the postcard presents three historical views of the building. The photographs show the Berghof intact before the end of World War II together with a striking view of the heavily damaged structure following the 1945 Allied bombing of the Obersalzberg.
The Berghof was severely damaged during the Royal Air Force bombing raid of April 25, 1945. Its remaining ruins survived into the early postwar period before being demolished by Bavarian authorities in 1952.
The reverse identifies the publisher as Verlag M. Lochner, Kunstmaler, Berchtesgaden-Strub, reference D 421, and bears the “auf PERUTZ Film” photographic marking.
This is a vintage postwar historical souvenir postcard and not a Third Reich-period postcard.
