Original Imperial German pre-WWI / WWI-era single shoulder board (Schulterklappe) for Württemberg Train Battalion Nr. 13 (Württembergisches Train-Bataillon Nr. 13), associated with the XIII Army Corps.
This shoulder board features a red wool backing with finely embroidered yellow “13” numerals in the classic Imperial German style. The reverse retains remnants of old paper mounting residue, indicating the piece was at one time displayed or glued into a collection board or album.
Train Battalions (Train-Abteilungen) were responsible for military transport, supply, ammunition movement, horse transport, and logistical support within the Imperial German Army. Württemberg Train Battalion Nr. 13 was garrisoned in Ludwigsburg and formed part of the XIII Army Corps structure.
The style of construction is consistent with the 1895 pattern noted in period documentation.
