Original German WWII NSKK Driver’s Sleeve Diamond (Kraftfahrraute), worn by members of the Nationalsozialistisches Kraftfahrkorps (National Socialist Motor Corps).
This example features the characteristic NSKK eagle and swastika positioned over a spoked wheel, finely woven in silver-colored thread against a black background.
The Kraftfahrraute was worn on the lower left sleeve of the NSKK uniform. By September 1939, its wear was restricted to members holding one of the recognized motor vehicle operator’s licenses.
This particular example appears to have been removed directly from a uniform, retaining portions of the original black uniform material around the insignia along with remnants of period stitching and loose threads on the reverse.
The insignia itself remains well defined, with good contrast between the silver-colored woven design and black background. The surrounding material is irregularly cut and exhibits fraying, wear and loose threads consistent with removal from a garment.
