Original German WWII Silver Wound Badge 1939 (Verwundetenabzeichen 1939 in Silber), awarded to German military personnel who suffered multiple wounds in combat or otherwise met the qualifying criteria for the silver grade.
The obverse features the characteristic German steel helmet with swastika positioned over crossed swords, surrounded by an oval laurel wreath. The finely stippled background provides contrast to the raised design.
This example shows considerable age and wear to the original silver finish, with much of the surface having darkened over time. Areas of the original silver-colored finish remain visible, particularly within the recessed portions of the design, giving the badge a strong and attractive period appearance.
The reverse features a solid construction with its original vertical pin, hinge and catch assembly. The reverse is clearly maker marked “107”, the manufacturer code associated with Carl Wild of Hamburg.
The badge displays honest period wear, finish loss, oxidation and surface marks consistent with its age. The pin assembly remains present and functional. Please examine all photographs carefully for the exact condition.
