Original German WWII Heer “AFRIKAKORPS” Cuff Title (Ärmelstreifen), manufactured for personnel of the German Afrika Korps serving in North Africa.
This distinctive formation cuff title features the inscription “AFRIKAKORPS” machine woven in silver-colored aluminum thread against a dark green background, bordered above and below by silver-colored woven piping and tan tropical edging.
The cuff title is of classic BeVo machine-woven construction, with the reverse displaying the characteristic inverted weave of the lettering and metallic borders.
This example appears to be unissued and never applied to a uniform. It remains essentially full length with both original ends present and shows no convincing evidence of having previously been sewn to a tunic. The cuff title has been stored folded, resulting in some age-related shaping and minor storage wear.
The metallic threads retain strong contrast with attractive age toning, while the dark green central field and tan edging remain well preserved.
