Original German WWII Landrat Vehicle Identification Disk (Kraftwagenkennzeichen) from the Landkreis Cloppenburg.
These official vehicle identification disks were mounted on government automobiles assigned to senior civil authorities during the Third Reich. This example bears the inscription:
“Der Landrat des Landkreises Cloppenburg”
(“The District Administrator of the District of Cloppenburg”)
Constructed of painted steel, the disk features the orange-red background with silver national eagle and oak wreath emblem. The central mounting hole remains intact, while the reverse retains remnants of its original paint and mounting hardware locations.
Government vehicle disks are considerably scarcer than many standard Third Reich insignia and remain highly sought after by collectors specializing in German police, civil administration, or vehicle accessories.
Condition
Very good overall condition. Original painted finish with honest age wear and patina throughout. The front remains highly displayable, while the reverse shows expected oxidation, paint remnants, and evidence of former mounting hardware. An attractive untouched example.
