Original late-war German Volkssturm armband, constructed in red cotton with a black central band and white printed lettering reading “DEUTSCHER VOLKSSTURM WEHRMACHT,” accompanied by the national eagle emblem. This was the standard identification armband issued to members of the Volkssturm militia during the final phase of the war, beginning in late 1944.
The piece is of printed construction rather than embroidered, which is typical for wartime expedient production. The reverse shows the mirrored print-through and period stitching remains from field or uniform attachment. The fabric retains good color contrast overall, with honest handling wear and slight edge fraying consistent with age.
A very recognizable and collectible late-war Third Reich armband associated with Germany’s emergency home defense militia.
