Original German WWII Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD) athletic / sports insignia, produced in BeVo woven construction.
This is a particularly interesting large factory end-run production piece, measuring approximately 5 × 7 inches, which retains two consecutive portions of the woven RAD athletic insignia on the original factory cloth.
The lower section displays the complete large RAD sports emblem featuring the stylized spade and wheat design within the red, white and black shield. Above it remains a second partially completed/overlapping example from the continuous manufacturing process.
The reverse clearly displays the characteristic woven construction and provides an excellent view of the manufacturing technique.
The original factory cloth also retains the woven manufacturer marking near the lower edge.
Rather than having been individually cut and finished for application to athletic clothing, this example appears to have survived as a factory production/end-of-run piece, making it considerably more unusual than a standard single RAD athletic patch.
Shows expected age and storage wear, including minor staining, loose threads and unfinished factory edges. Please refer closely to the photographs for condition.
A very interesting production-related RAD textile piece and an excellent addition for collectors of German WWII insignia, BeVo manufacture or RAD material.
