Description

Original commemorative badge issued for the 1 May 1935 “Tag der Arbeit” (Day of Labour) celebrations in National Socialist Germany. These badges were distributed during public rallies, parades, and labor events organized to commemorate the annual workers’ holiday.

The obverse depicts a stylized worker figure standing above a national eagle and swastika, accompanied by the date “1 MAI 1935”. The reverse retains its original pin assembly and bears a partially legible maker’s mark. Due to age and oxidation, the marking is difficult to decipher but appears to read “W.H. … Gmünd”, with the location Gmünd still visible.

Manufactured in zinc alloy, the badge exhibits substantial age-related oxidation, dark surface toning, and wear accumulated over decades. Despite its condition, the design remains identifiable and the original pin remains intact.

Maker Mark: Partially legible, appears to include “W.H.” and “Gmünd”
Date: 1 May 1935
Material: Zinc alloy
Mounting: Original pinback intact
Condition: Heavy age-related oxidation and surface wear

An authentic Third Reich-era labor celebration badge and an interesting example of a period Day of Labour commemorative issue.
