Description

Original Third Reich NSKOV (Nationalsozialistische Kriegsopfer-Versorgung) postcard featuring the dramatic artwork “Fallschirmjäger landen auf Kreta” (“German Paratroopers Landing on Crete”).

The illustration, painted by Ablers, depicts German Fallschirmjäger descending by parachute during the famous airborne invasion of Crete (Operation Merkur) in May 1941. Armed paratroopers are shown assembling immediately after landing while additional troops descend from the sky, capturing one of the most iconic operations of the German airborne forces during the Second World War.

The reverse bears the official NSKOV emblem and identifies the artwork as Bild 29, confirming it as part of an official series of military-themed postcards issued by the National Socialist War Victims’ Welfare organization.

This example remains unused, with no writing, stamp, or postal markings.
