Original Imperial German Iron Cross 2nd Class (Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse) awarded during the First World War. This attractive example features the desirable KO maker mark stamped on the suspension ring, identifying production by the Königliches Münzamt Orden, Berlin.
The cross retains its original three-piece construction with magnetic iron core and silver frame. The blackened core remains well preserved, while the frame displays an attractive age patina consistent with long-term storage.
Included is the original period ribbon and a fitted presentation case bearing a silver Imperial crown to the lid. The interior silk lining is printed with the patriotic inscription:
“Zur Erinnerung an Deutschlands große Zeit”
(“In Memory of Germany’s Great Time”)
The case remains in solid condition with normal age wear and provides excellent display appeal.
