An original German Honor Cross of the World War 1914–1918 with Swords (Hindenburg Cross) awarded to front-line combat veterans of the First World War.
Instituted on July 13, 1934, by President Paul von Hindenburg, the Honor Cross commemorated the service of German veterans of the Great War. The version with crossed swords was awarded exclusively to combatants who served at the front.
This example features the desirable W. SCH. & Co. maker mark on the reverse. It retains an attractive original dark bronze finish with crisp details and is suspended from its original combatant ribbon.
