Original Eastern Front Medal (Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42), also known as the “Ostmedaille”, awarded to German personnel who served on the Eastern Front during the harsh winter campaign of 1941-42.
This example features a maker mark “13” on the ring, identifying it as produced by Gustav Brehmer of Markneukirchen, one of the rarer and more sought-after manufacturers.
The medal retains strong detail on both sides:
Obverse: National eagle over crossed sword and branch
Reverse: “Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42” with crossed sword and laurel wreath
The red, black and white ribbon is in excellent condition with minimal fraying. The medal shows a beautiful aged patina and has not been cleaned or restored.
