Original WWII German color propaganda postcard depicting Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel, one of Germany’s best-known armored commanders of the Second World War.
The portrait was created by noted German military artist Wolfgang Willrich, whose distinctive color portraits of soldiers, officers and decorated servicemen were extensively reproduced on wartime postcards.
The front depicts Rommel wearing his characteristic field goggles and the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords at his neck. Willrich’s printed signature appears beneath the portrait.
The reverse identifies the card:

It was published by the Volksbund für das Deutschtum im Ausland (VDA), Berlin W 30, an organization responsible for numerous wartime Willrich postcard series. Comparable VDA Willrich cards depicting Rommel are documented as German WWII propaganda postcards.
This particular variant carries the designation E 37 together with the printed number 432 at the lower right.
The postcard is unused and unposted, retaining a completely blank address and correspondence section. There is no postage stamp, postal cancellation or handwritten message.
