Description

Original Third Reich period postcard featuring two views of the monumental Nazi Party Rally Grounds (Reichsparteitagsgelände) in Nürnberg, one of the most recognizable architectural complexes associated with the annual Nuremberg Party Rallies.

The upper photograph presents the vast Zeppelinfeld (Zeppelin Field) and its grandstand complex, while the lower image shows the Ehrentribüne in der Luitpoldarena, decorated with large swastika banners and monumental eagle sculptures.

The printed caption reads:

“Nürnberg. Reichsparteitagsgelände. Ehrentribüne in der Luitpoldarena.”

Unlike many surviving unused tourist postcards of the Rally Grounds, this example was period mailed and extensively handwritten, giving it considerably greater postal-history interest.

The reverse retains an original green 6 + 19 Reichspfennig commemorative postage stamp issued for the Reichsparteitag 1938, depicting Adolf Hitler in profile and explicitly inscribed:

“Reichsparteitag 1938”

Most importantly, the stamp carries a Nürnberg cancellation dated 10.9.1938.

This date places the postcard directly within the period of the 1938 Nuremberg Rally, officially known as the Reichsparteitag Großdeutschland, held in Nürnberg from September 5–12, 1938. Therefore, the postcard was not merely produced as a souvenir of the Rally Grounds—it was actually posted from Nürnberg while the 1938 Party Rally was taking place.

The reverse contains a substantial contemporary handwritten message and is addressed to Hamburg-Wandsbek, providing additional postal-history character and confirming genuine period use.

An especially appealing crossover collectible combining Third Reich architecture, Nürnberg Rally history, propaganda imagery, philately and period postal history.

Condition: Good original period condition with honest age and postal handling wear. Light staining, toning and edge wear are visible, particularly around the stamp and upper-right corner. The photographic front remains strong and highly presentable. The reverse retains extensive original handwriting, postage stamp and clearly visible period cancellation.
